Once again this year, Leonardo has chosen to contribute to the safe running of the Cortina Ski World Cup 2023 for the benefit of all stakeholders: athletes, the public and the local community.
In its capacity as Official Technical Partner, Leonardo will provide a system for safe radio communications capable of ensuring effective coordination of activities and interventions in the field, also in emergency conditions.
Leonardo's technologies on the piste
Leonardo's technical solutions include the deployment of a dedicated Multi-Carrier Hybrid Radio Network on the ground, which will ensure reliable TETRA communications, thus enabling the approximately 150 on-site operators to work safely and in perfect coordination. At Fondazione Cortina, a Mission Critical Control Room (MCCR) will make available Leonardo's advanced operating room features such as geolocation of terminal equipment.
Leonardo's solutions for critical communications are recognised worldwide for their excellence, with more than 50 countries using them on a daily basis. In Italy alone, Leonardo operates 200 control rooms and more than 50,000 terminals for police communications, as well as over 2,000 digital base transceiver stations deployed for health emergency management services and civil protection.
Technical partner for major sporting events
Following Cortina 2021, 1000Miglia 2020, the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and 2014, the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, the World Cycling Championships in 2013 and the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006, Leonardo remains a key technology partner for the safe running of major sporting events. Its aim in this regard is to improve the quality of experience for organisers and participants (public and local communities), while promoting the dissemination of a sound safety culture. This should come as no surprise, as Leonardo’s inherent sense of performance, challenge, competition and technological innovation complement the values of sport to perfection.
