The NSW Telco Authority has recently launched an updated Operational Communication Strategy (OCS).

Reflecting the evolving needs of customers and changes in the operating environment, the OCS ensures that the NSW Telco Authority is equipped with the right technology, personnel, and systems to meet the growing demand for secure, reliable, and resilient voice and data-enabled services.

Amid a rapidly changing landscape, the strategy refresh comes at a critical junction to address diverse challenges. These include the impact of natural disasters on public safety communications, the evolving connectivity needs of emergency services to leverage new technologies, and the connectivity challenges faced by regional, rural, and remote communities.

The OCS comprises five pillars, eight strategic programs, and quantifiable measures of success. It offers a comprehensive framework for addressing challenges and achieving future success, providing effective solutions for our customers.

Kylie De Courteney, Managing Director of NSW Telco Authority, stated: "We have an exciting journey ahead. This strategy will focus on incorporating new technologies into our offerings, such as Low Earth Orbit satellites, and importantly, finding ways to deliver in-field mission-critical broadband to emergency services so they have the same connectivity when responding to critical incidents as the rest of us have in our workplaces."

De Courteney continued: "One of the strategy’s main priorities is to deliver this capability to emergency services through the Public Safety Mobile Broadband national program – a Commonwealth, state, and territory initiative to provide national interoperable voice and data capabilities to first responders."
