Axon proudly announces that the Puerto Rico Police Bureau has equipped officers across the territory with Axon Body 4 body-worn cameras, complemented by Axon's digital evidence management solution, Axon Evidence. This expansion follows the successful deployment of Axon Body 3 body-worn cameras and Axon Fleet 3 in-car cameras for first responders last year.
The decision to expand this technology follows a public policy issued by the Governor of Puerto Rico, Hon. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia, and directives set by the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety of Puerto Rico, Alexis Torres Ríos, in August 2022. This initiative aims to deploy body-worn cameras as part of a long-term modernization strategy. Inspector Noel Méndez Rivera, Assistant Secretary for Operations and Intelligence at the Department of Public Safety, highlighted Axon's selection due to its efficient live streaming functionality, geolocation features, automatic activation with Axon Signal technology, as well as the security and chain of custody of its body-worn cameras.
Vishal Dhir, Axon’s Senior Managing Director of Americas, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, applauding their dedication to enhancing public safety solutions. He emphasized that this latest procurement demonstrates their ongoing commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance officer and community safety, positioning them as leaders in public safety technology across the Americas.
The positive reception of last year's deployment of Axon Body 3 body-worn cameras and Axon Fleet 3 in-car cameras underscores the commitment of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau to the safety of citizens and first responders. Inspector Méndez reiterated their pride in bringing advanced technology solutions to first responders, emphasizing that by equipping officers with the latest body-worn cameras and solutions, they can continue to protect the people of Puerto Rico.
