RMS, a leading provider of alarm monitoring services, has successfully tackled a critical challenge: ensuring the safety and real-time monitoring of lone workers, especially those in high-risk environments. To address this need, RMS upgraded its existing system to seamlessly integrate advanced communication technologies and provide real-time location services, thereby enhancing its duty of care for employees and customers.

James Molde from the RMS Tech Team stated, “Integrating Storm’s Push-to-Talk over Cellular and Lone Worker solutions with the Sentinel platform has transformed our monitoring capabilities. We can now ensure the safety of our lone workers with real-time location tracking and instant communication. This partnership has greatly enhanced our duty of care and operational efficiency.”

Storm partnered with Monitor Computer Systems, the provider of the Sentinel platform, to deliver a comprehensive solution. This solution integrated Storm’s push-to-talk over cellular (PTToC, also known as PoC) and lone worker solutions with the state-of-the-art Sentinel alarm monitoring platform. Sentinel accepts incoming alarms generated by the Mobile Tornado software on users’ devices and provides real-time location tracking, ensuring that employers can effectively monitor and protect their employees.

Storm’s push-to-talk over cellular (PTT) technology enables instant communication across vast geographic areas, eliminating the need for traditional radio systems. This ensures that lone workers are always reachable, significantly enhancing their safety and operational efficiency. Additionally, the lone worker solution includes an emergency alerting system that notifies the dispatcher console in real-time, providing updates on the worker’s location and status during emergencies.

The integration of Storm’s PoC and lone worker solutions with the Sentinel platform has dramatically improved RMS’s monitoring capabilities and lone worker safety. Key benefits include:

  • Enhanced Real-Time Monitoring: RMS can now track the location and status of lone workers in real-time, ensuring a higher level of safety and duty of care.

  • Improved Communication: The PoC technology provides instant communication capabilities, streamlining operations and enhancing response times.

  • Increased Safety Measures: The emergency alert system allows for immediate response to incidents, significantly reducing risks faced by lone workers.

  • Operational Efficiency: The seamless integration with the Sentinel platform has improved the efficiency of out-of-hours monitoring and incident management.

The collaboration between Storm and RMS, leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Sentinel platform and Storm’s innovative PoC and lone worker solutions, has set a new benchmark in lone worker safety and monitoring. This case study exemplifies how integrating cutting-edge technology can address critical challenges and deliver tangible benefits in worker safety and operational effectiveness.
