Caltta Technologies, a leading provider of integrated professional trunking communication solutions, worked closely with its partner in the UK and facilitated seamless group communications for the organizer of Reading Half Marathon 2022 on April 3rd. It was the second year that the Reading Marathon staff used Caltta’s push-to-talk solution.

This year was a special half-marathon as the event celebrated its 40th year of running. The 13.1-mile half-marathon route took thousands of runners on a loop starting at Green Park and finishing at the Madejski Stadium, passing by the university, the town center, and Prospect Park.

After the first-year service for the event in 2021, with professional and dedicated support from Foresolutions and JustCom, its exclusive distributor within the UK and Ireland, Caltta served the event once again with its eChat PoC (Push-to-talk over Cellular) solution.

Caltta’s eChat system is a one-stop platform that supports a variety of features and functions. eChat utilizes the carriers’ 3G/4G/Wi-Fi infrastructure to provide wide coverage and unlimited channels and free users from traditional PMR networks’ limited coverage and capacity. The eChat dispatch console is a professional and powerful dispatching software, which is user friendly and easy to use. The event staff found it an efficiency booster.

There are multiple models of eChat radios, including professional radios and smart radios, for different work scenarios. Caltta designs the eChat as an open platform; therefore, the eChat suite accommodates radios from different manufacturers, allowing customers to have more choices for devices.

After two successful versions of the Reading Half Marathon, Caltta and JustCom have accumulated rich experience in site survey, system deployment, and feature setup for this running event. The next Reading Half Marathon is scheduled on 2ndApril, 2023.
