Eviden, the Atos Group business leading in digital, cloud, big data and security, today announces that it has been chosen by Tisséo, the public transport authority of the Toulouse metropolitan area, to provide and maintain the ground-to-board radio communication system for the upcoming metro line C and ensure the cybersecurity of the entire line. This contract was secured as part of the Axione-Eviden consortium represented by Axione.

Eviden, through its Mission-Critical Systems (MCS) activity, will deploy LTE 4G[1] and WiFi radio communication systems on trains and extend INPT radio coverage[2] from metro lines A and B to line C. The INPT network, used exclusively by emergency and civil security services, ensures rapid and efficient communication in emergencies. The contract includes the radio communication interface with other subsystems of Tisséo.

Eviden manages the cybersecurity of radio communication on line C, defining specifications for securing ground-to-board radio links. It collaborates with Axione to secure the ground infrastructure and integrates cyber functionalities into the hardware and software of onboard systems.

Eviden’s solutions help Tisséo with the operation, maintenance and protection of line C users.

With over 20 years of experience and R&D, Eviden now offers MCx[3] advanced communication solutions to ensure standardized, secure and reliable radio transmissions between trains, control centers and railway personnel.

Tisséo’s line C is the first in France to be equipped with MCx functions for voice communications on Infrastructure Maintenance Vehicles (VMI). It is also one of the pioneering lines in France to feature a 4G LTE PMR[4] radiocommunication system, along with an operation and maintenance infrastructure system that ensures efficient ground-to-board data transmission along the entire track. Furthermore, a dedicated UHD (Ultra High Speed) WiFi network was deployed in the line C garage areas to transmit onboard video protection data.

Gilles Caron, Head of the MCS/France Transport Business Unit, Eviden, Atos Group, said: “Tisséo’s acknowledgment of our expertise in onboard radio communication and cybersecurity is a testament to our team’s dedication to providing innovative solutions that enhance the reliability and safety of urban public transport for users."

The automatic metro line C is part of the Toulouse Aerospace Express (TAE) project, which includes the extension of line B and the transformation of the T2 tram line into an airport shuttle. Spanning 27 kilometers with 21 stations, line C connects Colomiers and Labège, improving access to economic hubs, Matabiau station and Toulouse Blagnac airport while enhancing connections with the existing public transport network.
