The Municipal Public Company for Risk Management and Security Control of Guayaquil (Segura EP) has selected the WAVE PTX solution from Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) to facilitate communication and coordination among medical emergency response personnel in Guayaquil. The application can connect people across any device and network.

"In emergency management, coordination is vital," said Dr. William Muñoz, Segura EP's Prehospital Chief. “Previously, coordination was time-consuming and resource-intensive, especially when multiple institutions are required to respond and are using different communication platforms and devices. Today, with WAVE PTX from Motorola Solutions, we can communicate seamlessly across healthcare institutions at the push of a button, whether personnel are using radios or cell phones. This translates into a more agile and effective response to community needs."

Segura EP integrates a network of emergency institutions, including one public hospital, 24 private clinics and 12 ambulances. All are connected to the Emergency Monitoring Center, which serves over two million Guayaquil residents and dispatches an average of 100 calls daily to the appropriate institutions for response.

WAVE PTX provides secure push-to-talk (PTT) voice communications and real-time data over LTE/4G, 3G or Wi-Fi networks. This allows emergency personnel to share images, documents, maps, locations, text messages and videos while staying connected on their usual work devices, including cell phones, tablets, laptops and radios.

"Our technology is enabling Segura EP to connect the entire network of medical emergency institutions in Guayaquil, including ECU 911, easily and without major infrastructure investments," said Gustavo Daza, MSSSI vice president enterprise sales for Latin America and the Caribbean at Motorola Solutions. "The flexibility of our security ecosystem supports our clear and centered focus on solving for safer communities”.

Segura EP plans to add other public safety and emergency entities to the network, such as the fire department. These entities use mission-critical radio communication systems that can also connect to the network through WAVE PTX, which will further enhance interagency coordination and public safety.
