NSW Telco Authority has successfully extended the Public Safety Network (PSN) to the remote Lobs Hole region in the Snowy Mountains, further strengthening critical communications coverage for emergency services, essential workers and major infrastructure projects operating in one of New South Wales' most challenging environments.

Situated deep within the Snowy Mountains, Lobs Hole presented significant logistical and engineering challenges due to its rugged terrain, unpredictable weather conditions and limited site access. Delivering the new PSN infrastructure required meticulous planning, close collaboration among project partners and innovative deployment strategies to safely transport personnel, equipment and materials into the remote location.

The newly commissioned PSN site now provides resilient and reliable mission-critical communications for workers supporting the Snowy 2.0 hydroelectric project, first responders and other essential operational teams working throughout the isolated region. The enhanced connectivity improves operational coordination, worker safety and emergency response capabilities where dependable communications are vital.

The deployment forms part of the final phase of the Critical Communications Enhancement Program (CCEP), an initiative designed to expand secure public safety communications across regional and remote areas of New South Wales.

NSW Telco Authority acknowledged the collaboration of project partners, including Snowy Hydro, FutureGen and BAI Communications, whose expertise and support have been instrumental in delivering critical communications infrastructure to some of the state's most remote and difficult-to-access locations.

By extending the Public Safety Network into areas such as Lobs Hole, NSW Telco Authority continues to strengthen communications resilience across New South Wales, ensuring emergency services, critical infrastructure operators and remote workforces remain connected, protected and prepared when it matters most.
