Orange, the French telecom group, has announced its comprehensive connectivity plans for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The company will connect over 120 venues, including airports, railway stations, and training facilities, ensuring seamless and reliable connectivity for all attendees.

In addition, Orange will offer dedicated mobile plans to French and foreign tourists, as well as athletes and their support staff, ensuring everyone can stay connected during the games. The company will also introduce private 5G Standalone technology at several key venues to enhance broadcast capabilities.

A key highlight of Orange's initiative is the provision of free Orange Holiday eSIM 100GB 5G offers to 15,000 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, in collaboration with Samsung. This ensures that athletes have access to top-tier connectivity without any cost.

From June 3 to September 8, Orange will extend its 5G network access at no extra cost to existing consumers and business customers who have a 4G package and a compatible mobile phone. This initiative aims to provide a superior connectivity experience for all users during the games.

To further bolster connectivity, Orange will deploy a private 5G Standalone network at several major venues, including Stade de France, Arena Bercy, and Paris La Défense Arena. This network will also cover the six-kilometer stretch of the Seine for the opening ceremony and the Marina de Marseille, enhancing connectivity for these significant events.

As the exclusive operator for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Orange continues to innovate and invest in hybrid public/private 5G networks in France. Last year, Orange Business began offering a hybrid public/private standalone 5G solution, combining access to its public network with private network deployments for enterprises. This innovative “two-in-one solution” integrates network slicing, edge computing, and local data analysis across dual public/private 5G infrastructure.

In Arcueil, south of Paris, Orange successfully tested this hybrid solution using a router from Ericsson-owned Cradlepoint. This router enables simultaneous connectivity to both networks and directs data flows according to the specific requirements of carrier applications, supporting 5G SA and slicing.

Orange Business is now offering this hybrid solution as a managed service to enterprises in France, showcasing the company’s commitment to developing cutting-edge services and use cases for its customers.

Orange's extensive preparations and innovative solutions ensure that the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a technologically advanced and well-connected event, enhancing the experience for athletes, visitors, and broadcasters alike.
