Malaysia state energy firm Petronas launched the country's first commercial private 5G network for enterprise use, which it said would boost its internal operations and "induce industry-wide change". The private 5G network is implemented at its Regasification Terminal Sungai Udang, located in Melaka, Malaysia, and the groundbreaking network marks the pioneering utilization of 5G technology for enterprise purposes.
“As we embark on this transformative journey, it’s crucial to acknowledge the integral role cutting-edge technologies play, 5G’s fast connectivity, low latency, and capacity to handle massive data flows will empower our industries to innovate, compete and excel on a global scale,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Fadillah Yusof.
The introduction of the Petronas 5G Private Network paves the way for enhanced collaboration among the government, private sector, and academia to fully harness the capabilities of 5G technology. It’s worth noting that Petronas is entirely owned by the Malaysian government.
